Jose Almonte, better known by his stage name DJ Small, is a Dominican-American DJ and producer who made significant contributions to the music industry, particularly in the genres of hip-hop and house music.

Early Life and Career Beginnings:

DJ Small was born on February 27, 1970, in the Dominican Republic, and moved to New York with his family at the age of one. He began experimenting with DJing at the age of just 11 years old when he would sneak into his uncle’s room to practice on his equipment. He was inspired by his native country’s merengue music and his love for hip-hop. DJ Small became well-known for performing at house parties, where he honed his skills and gained a following. However, DJ Small faced the challenge of being engaged to his girlfriend and ultimately decided to decline the offer and stay in New York to pursue his career.

After his collaboration with Juan & Nelson Records, DJ Small continued to produce his own beats in hip-hop, EDM, TRAP and house music.
